Juno the Mountain Dog "Part One"

This past Monday Juno and I decided it was time to do some real mountaineering and so we decided to give Mt. Jefferson in New Hampshire a shot.
It is a 4.5 hour drive from where we live so I persuaded Juno to get into the back seat of the subaru at about 4:45 am. As you can see he was very helpful in keeping me awake as we drove up north.

Once we were in the mountains the drive became really exciting as we traveled through the seemingly endless forest of the white mountains. The road was twisty, dusty and empty. It made me wish for a STI!!! With great self control, I kept roughly to the speed limit.
The road followed a stream that was so beautiful I just had to stop and play around on the rocks. The water was absolutely crystal clear!

The trail started off at about 3,500 feet above sea level. Juno and I wove our way up the mountain through a lush forest.

After about 40 minutes we came to a collection of huge weather-worn boulders that Juno liked the look of.

The boulders offered us a wonderfull view of the surrounding terrain.
